watercolor

Made this on my own, just for fun. Which is weird, because I feel like I haven't made anything for fun in a LONG time. But I guess I gotta make myself figure out what it is I like about art (or more specifically, making art) again.

So yeah, decided to do something in color. The last time I used watercolors was two years ago, and I think I was using them for like, the first time? Since elementary school? So I'm not particularly experienced, and sort of have fun playing around with them. I like that it's a very forgiving medium. (Also I like how the texture in her hair turned out. Not so sure about a lot of the color placement in the skin.)

The. End.

(easy) metaphors

You might be saying, "Now, Hannah, if you didn't waste your time drawing stupid cartoons and making blog posts, maybe you'd have the time to tackle your problems in a more constructive way." To which I would respond, "Well gee whiz, I never thought of it that way, ho boy, ho boy, I'm excited to do things a new way!!" There would be a little sarcasm.

do me a favor, god

Too bad that's my left hand.

On the plus side, I finally put all my Beatles' CD's on my computer. I thought they were too scratched to ever work again. Apparently there is life in them yet. So that's all I'll be listening to for the next few years of my life, thanks.

"That's Paul's grandfather."

super sexy self portrait

Kids, this is what art school does to you.

(To be fair, this was a lot of fun to draw. I recommend everyone draw themselves as a super gross MCAD-affected, sleep-deprived sad sack. READY GO.)

homework

This is part of a homework assignment that I thought turned out pretty nice, so I'm sharing it. Also, Anna's face is really hard to draw for some reason, and I thought it turned out looking pretty close to what she actually looks like, soooo yeah. That's good.

sketch sketch sketcharoony

Oh hey there, blog. I almost forgot you existed.

These are two characters I made up while hanging out with Anna and doodling. They're pretty fun, I'd like to use them eventually.

Here are a couple of sketches that've been a long time coming... It's Barney Ross! Anyways, these are pretty rough, I'd like to keep working at him until I get to a design/style/whatever I really like. Although this could work fine, too. I GUESS.

Also, in case it wasn't blatantly obvious, I'd like to make my senior project about him, but I'll probably wind up focusing on his younger years (because of time restraints, mostly) which means I will need to draw him younger. Problem is, there is a severe lack of reference material. I know of only two photos where he's young and when I say young, I mean fourteen. In one of these photos, he is at an angle that's too weird to guess his features and in the other one he's in shadow and at a distance. *sigh* So this a rough guesstimate of a younger BR.
